RAMBO'S REVIVAL HARD CIDER CAN DESIGN
I designed a hard cider can for the American Swedish Historical Museum, in Philadelphia.
The museum collaborated with Liquid Alchemy Beverages in Wilmington, DE to create a Lingonberry and Rambo Apple hard cider. The cider features heritage Rambo apples grown on the Museum's historic Apple Trees in FDR Park.

According to the museum, the apples "trace their origins back to the early 1600s when they were brought to the New Sweden Colony by Peter Gunnarsson Rambo."
The 2023 batch of Rambo’s Revival sold out within a week of the release, but wasn't canned. I was tasked to create a design for the canning of the cider for a longer shelf-life and customized look.

PROCESS
I sketched out several ideas for cans - initially focusing on bright and vibrant colors. I wanted bold patterns and bold patterns to stand out. After playing with different styles and colors, I thought I should also create an option that tied in with the historic nature of the museum. In the end, I narrowed down my ideas to three that I presented to the Museum. From left to right the concepts were "Vibrant Burst," "Garden Lingonberry," and "Heritage Heirloom."
Ultimately, the 3rd option was selected because it aligned with the Museum's mission and vision for the project.
The Museum had some slight tweaks, including making the lingonberries look less like olives and more like Swedish lingonberries.
REFLECTION:
This project was a challenge for me - but a challenge in the best possible way. I was able to work with and support a local historic site to help make their project vision come true. I got to work on unique project. I challenged myself, and I grew and refined my skills in the process. I'm very proud of the final product and grateful for the opportunities to push myself to create something unique. The product officially launched in November of 2024. I've loved attending the launch event at Liquid Alchemy Beverages (apple trivia is not my strong suit!), and seeing the product live and in person. Recently a can even made it's way to a Philadelphia Eagles game tailgate.
Raise a glass to embracing a new challenge!
